Leadership Team

Chris Quickfall - CEO

Chris founded the business in 2006 with a desire to improve the skills and opportunities available to people with diverse needs after being identified as having dyslexia whilst studying Mechanical Engineering. Chris is a member and representative of the industry body British Assistive Technology Association (BATA) and has advised government on their policies towards disabled students in education.

Jim Chambers - Non-Exec Director

Jim has led businesses operating in support services, information technology and software, e-learning, strategic consulting, inspection services, vocational training, employment services, welfare to work and education. He has a keen interest in supporting people to achieve their educational and employment related goals.

Richard Mair - Non-Exec Director

Richard has directed and advised businesses in sectors covering student development, education, environment and recycling and has experience in accessing and managing, private and publically funded projects within SME’s.

Lee Chambers - Chief Operating Officer

Lee has supported the development of eQL since it’s early days and has led the delivery of many of the innovative solutions we have brought to market. Lee has a solid understanding of technology for disabled people and advises our partners in the market on product/service fit.

David Young - Financial Controller

David is a Chartered Accountant with a breadth of experience from overseeing the financial operations of fast growing equity backed new starts to large subsidiaries of international corporations. David has applied his experiences of managing and growing renewable energy companies and automotive suppliers to manage eQL our phases of growth and operation.

Sean Dotchin – Chief Technology Officer

Sean has over twenty years’ experience of successfully designing, delivering and running complex I.T. solutions to meet the demands of various private and public sector businesses. With a solid understanding of legacy and up and coming technologies, Sean is responsible for the overall technical direction of e-Quality Learning systems, and implementing industry leading technology that benefits our customers and learners. Sean is also a motoring enthusiast, and actively works within motoring communities, events and shows, to raise money for charities in and around the North East.

Professional Consultants

Dr John Welch - Neuropsychologist

Dr Welch is a consultant to eQL aiding in the development and iteration of several of our most innovative products and services. Dr Welch headed up Clinical Neuropsychology in Newcastle upon-Tyne and started services to the Epilepsy, Parkinson Disease, Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus, Joint Neurology/Neuropsychology surgeries and is also an expert witness.

Dr Clive Skilbeck - Psychologist and Neuropsychologist

Dr Skilbeck is a consultant to eQL supporting product development; especially in the areas of research, development, evidencing and validation. He has degrees from Liverpool University and a PhD from Plymouth University, is a Fellow of the British Psychological Society, and a member of the Australian Psychological Society and College of Clinical Neuropsychologists.

Dr Sue Wilkinson - Education, Psychology and SEN University Lecturer

Dr Wilkinson has a doctorate in Cognitive Psychology and is a specialist in the field of interventions and adaptions for the education of individuals with cognitive impairments. She is the author or co-author of a dozen research papers in associated subjects and has many years of experience as an Assessor of disabled students and their interventionary needs.

Brigid Callaghan - Consultant

Brigid has been working in a consultancy capacity for eQL since the end of 2015. She is an experienced education practitioner, advising on study and workplace skills and strategies.

Business Development Team

Claire Carr - Business Development Manager

Employment and Vocational Skills

Claire has a solid understanding of the challenges and legislation requirements faced by learning providers, due to previous leadership roles in the skills and welfare to work sector as either a prime or sub-contracted provider.

Louise Karwowski - Business Development Manager

Education

Louise Karwowski’s role for e-Quality Learning and Learning Labs as Business Development Manager for Northern Sales draws on her vast experience as a Disability Needs Assessor to best support client solutions. Louise also contributes to training and advising for Cognassist supported by her work in Dyslexia and Autism Support.

Software Development Team

Fiona Waugh – Senior Software Developer

Fiona is a highly experienced software developer, who joined the company in 2015. She develops new functionality, and maintains existing functionality, for our platforms, and implements change requests to meet business and customer requirements. Before joining us, Fiona spent many years working in Nairobi for an international development charity. Fiona is a guide runner for a visually impaired runner.

Nigel Stephenson – Software Developer

Nigel is a full-stack software developer, experienced in IT systems development, administration and business analysis. He develops new functionality for our platforms and works closely with our Infrastructure and Operations teams.

Jack Durrant – Software Developer

Jack joined the team early in 2017, having recently graduated in Computer Science at Newcastle University in 2014.

Mark Watson – Software Developer

Mark has been with the company since 2013, and has been involved in the full end-to-end software lifecycle. He currently helps with diagnosing and resolving any operational issues relating to our software.

Lewis Jackson – Systems Architect

Lewis has a breadth of experience in IT ranging from Systems to Development to Infrastructure. In his past experience he has managed large scale worldwide infrastructure environments along with development and implementation of ERP systems for multiple companies. Lewis has a solid understanding of infrastructure environments, data analysis and system improvement techniques.

Digital Content Development Team

Wil Procter – Head of Digital Learning

Wil has been involved in online learning since 2004, when he taught his first online English lesson. Since then, he has designed online learning materials for some of the largest online English schools in the world, led learning design on multiple award-winning online courses for the CIPD and United for Wildlife, and provided consultancy to many other publishers and e-learning companies.

Tyrone Spence – Digital Content Manager

Ty has been with eQL for around a year. He comes from the software development (Games) industry and specialises in Digital asset creation and production management. He has designed and created digital content in the USA, Europe and Asia, and has provided services for some of the largest brands in the world including Fox Sports, IBM, BMW and Jaguar over the last 20 years.

Liam Robinson – Multimedia Resource Developer

After studying Interactive Media for two years at Newcastle College and a further three years studying Multimedia Graphics at Sunderland University, Liam joined us 4 years ago as our multimedia designer, producing digital learning materials, online videos, and traditional marketing materials.

Andres Ordorica – Learning Designer

Andres is an experienced instructional designer and educator. He has designed compliance, new hire and skills training for a variety of Fortune 500 companies and has served as a writing tutor for secondary students in the US and Ireland. When not at work, he can usually be found working on his latest writing project.

Customer Support Team

Sam Laidlaw - Training Manager

Samantha has been with eQL since 2012 and has worked as part of the Customer Support Team during many developments within the company. Samantha has a solid understanding of the DSA process and uses this to oversee the Support Team to ensure that Learners needs are being met during their time with eQL.

Michelle Kennedy - Training Delivery Coordinator

Michelle has worked with eQL throughout many changes within the Disabled Students Allowance. She uses her impressive customer service background to ensure that learners receiving their training with eQL are given a high level of support throughout their course.

Sarah Davison - Training Delivery Coordinator

Sarah has a vast background in Customer Service and a good understanding of the benefits of Assistive Technology. Sarah uses this experience to support Learners during their training and to ensure Trainers are providing a high level of service at all times.

Samantha McDougall - Training Delivery Coordinator

Samantha works with both the Learners and Trainers to ensure that learners receive a high level of service and support. She has a solid understanding of the AT Training process and the positive impact it can have during study. Samantha brings a wealth of Customer Service experience to her role to ensure all Learners needs are met during their experience with eQL.
