e-Quality Learning provides expert Assistive Technology training on TextHELP Read&Write for both Windows and Mac systems.

TextHELP Read&Write helps people with a wide range of difficulties and is especially useful for those with dyslexia.

TextHELP Read&Write has a wide range of features, accessed through an easy to use toolbar and your TextHELP training sessions will help you get the best out of these features.

The main features for reading assistance are:

  • Text-to-speech – enables you to listen to text from anywhere on your screen. This includes text in Microsoft Word, all main web browsers, PDF files, emails and more. Even text included in images and videos can be read aloud.
  • Speech Maker – convert text into an audio file which can be saved to your media player or mobile device to listen to wherever you like.
  • Screen Masking – this feature can help if you have trouble focusing on the screen or need a tracking aid to help with reading, like using a coloured overlay or underlined ruler.
  • There are many other reading tools, including dictionaries, a picture dictionary, DAISY reader, PDF Aloud, Pronunciation Tutor and Translator.

The main features for writing assistance are:

  • Spell Checker – spelling errors are detected and suggestions are made for replacements. With these suggestions, definitions are provided along with a sample sentence where the word is used to ensure the correct word is selected.
  • Word Prediction – this tool will learn your writing style and predict the word you might want to use next. Definitions of these words, that can also be read aloud, are also available.
  • Sounds Like and confusable words – this will identify words that sound the same but can be spelled differently (there, their, they’re) and suggest an appropriate alternative.
  • There is also a word wizard that can suggest new words to use, a verb checker to check your tense is correct, you can dictate what you would like to write using the speech input tool and it will convert your speech to text. There is also a feature that allows you to hear each word read out as you type.

There are also study skills and research features such as a talking calculator, a fact finder, fact folder and fact mapper that can help you search for facts on the web, store these and create bibliographies, and create a mind map using these to help organise your ideas.

Our expert Assistive Technology trainers can show you how to get the best out of TextHELP Read&Write and show you how to use TextHELP to its maximum potential.
