Inspiration

e-Quality Learning provides expert Assistive Technology training on Inspiration for both Windows and Mac systems.

Inspiration is a great thinking and learning tool that can be used for visual mapping, outlining, writing and making presentations.

It can help people with a range of disabilities, including those with dyslexia to create mind maps, idea maps, concept maps, visual web maps, flow diagrams, graphic organisers and other diagrams to encourage more critical thinking, enhance learning and reinforce understanding.

You can visually explore your ideas and consolidate your thoughts to improve understanding, knowledge, retention and organisational skills.

Features include:

  • A word guide and auto spell checker that can support people with writing difficulties.
  • A text to speech function is also available that reads back contents of your map, diagram or outline.
  • If you’re stuck for inspiration, starting off couldn’t be easier. With over 100 graphic organiser templates available to help you start off, templates are available for English language, arts, science, social studies and thinking and planning.
  • Images and symbols can be chosen from Inspiration’s library of more than 1 million symbols and added to represent information visually to trigger memory and enhance learning. With these you can also create custom symbol libraries for regular use.
  • Video and audio can be added to your maps, to reinforce ideas even further. Notes can be added to your topics and subtopics to start expanding on ideas. Key concepts can be highlighted and information grouped with a range of colours and font styles.
  • Links can be added to show relationships between ideas and comments added to these links to describe the relationships between ideas. Ideas can be rearranged easily by dragging branches.
  • Outline View develops writing skills, teaching you how to brainstorm and create plans for written work. With the ability to move between information you have developed visually on a diagram or map to an outline containing headers and sub headers of your main and supporting ideas, this allows you to expand and clarify ideas very easily and see how these ideas can be created into essays, reports and presentations.
  • In Outline View you can focus on your main and supporting ideas in a clearly set out written form which can be used to plan and organise written work which will help to structure writing, develop plans, produce papers and reports. Organise your ideas and think through projects and assignments, outline view helps you to structure your work more effectively.
  • The Presentation Manager tool allows you to transform the ideas you have developed on diagrams, mind maps and outlines instantly into presentations. This can then be expanded and edited to add, rearrange and delete slides and ideas, with the ability to use professional background themes, change background colours, themes, font styles and add graphic backgrounds to tailor your information into a formal, eye catching, and professional presentation.
